About the Monterey Jazz Festival
Established in 1958 as a way to showcase the Jazz genre of music, the Monterey Jazz Festival the longest running jazz festival in the world. Monterey Jazz Festival is an annual event held at the Monterey Fairgrounds and featuring a variety of well-known and emerging jazz artists. The three-day event has hosted a wide variety of big name artists like Dizzy Gillespie, Louis Armstrong, John Lewis, Chick Corea, Ernestine Anderson, Wynton Marsalis, Dave Brubeck, Max Roach, and Billie Holiday. The festival hosts more than 500 musicians on nine stages and offers a range of educational programming including jazz conversations, workshops, and clinics.

Monterey Jazz Festival Activities.

Monterey Jazz Festival Tickets.
The Monterey Jazz Festival comes to life during the third weekend in September each year. Tickets can be purchased in a variety of ways, including single grounds tickets and special arena packages.
