When to Visit.
Monterey is a haven for whales and other marine animals all year long, and visitors can see an abundance of marine life in the bay throughout the year. Visitors will see migrating gray whales and their calves in winter and spring. Summer offers glimpses of humpbacks, dolphins and porpoises. Tours tend to be less crowded during the winter months.
